There is something so sacred about documenting the season before a baby arrives. This recent maternity session by the river was the perfect combination of romance, nature, and glowing golden light — everything that makes outdoor maternity photography feel timeless and meaningful.
We met just before sunset along the riverbank, surrounded by soft sand, large natural rocks, and lush greenery. The golden hour light filtered through the trees, creating the most dreamy, flattering glow — ideal for maternity portraits.
Outdoor maternity sessions are one of my favorite ways to photograph expecting moms because:
The flowing red dress made such a stunning statement against the earthy tones of the riverbank. The off-the-shoulder neckline and soft draping fabric highlighted her baby bump beautifully while adding a romantic, feminine feel.
Why bold colors work so well for maternity photography:
The movement in the dress as she stood on the rocks added softness and drama to the images.
Some of my favorite images from this session were the intimate moments between mom and dad. The way he knelt beside her, gently placing his hands on her belly, captured pure anticipation and love.
The connection between them felt effortless and genuine — exactly what maternity photography is all about.
To end the session, we captured soft, ethereal portraits in the river. She wore a delicate white lace gown that floated beautifully in the water, creating a light and airy feel.
Water maternity sessions:
The stillness of the river combined with golden light gave these images a fine-art quality that feels both modern and timeless.
