There is something so sacred about documenting the season before a baby arrives. This recent maternity session by the river was the perfect combination of romance, nature, and glowing golden light — everything that makes outdoor maternity photography feel timeless and meaningful.
We met just before sunset along the riverbank, surrounded by soft sand, large natural rocks, and lush greenery. The golden hour light filtered through the trees, creating the most dreamy, flattering glow — ideal for maternity portraits.
Outdoor maternity sessions are one of my favorite ways to photograph expecting moms because:
- Natural light is soft and flattering
- The scenery adds depth and warmth
- Movement (water, wind, flowing dresses) creates emotion
- It feels organic and relaxed
The flowing red dress made such a stunning statement against the earthy tones of the riverbank. The off-the-shoulder neckline and soft draping fabric highlighted her baby bump beautifully while adding a romantic, feminine feel.

To end the session, we captured soft, ethereal portraits in the river. She wore a delicate white lace gown that floated beautifully in the water, creating a light and airy feel.
